A court here today remanded the Uber taxi driver, accused of raping a women, in two-day police custody.
The police sought custody of Shiv Kumar Yadav to question him about the fake character certificate, by using which he had got an All India Tourist Permit, a senior police officer said.
32-year-old Yadav, accused of raping a passenger on December 5, had told the police that he had procured the fake character certificate issued in the name of an Additional DCP of Delhi Police through an agent of a finance company.
Police had detained the agent, Sumit Sharma, who told police that he had procured it from another person.
Police want to bring all the persons of the chain in front of each other and find out who all are involved in it and for this it has taken Yadav' custody once again, he said.
An FIR under Section 466 (Forgery of record of Court or of public register), Section 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (Exclusion of date on which Court is closed) of IPC has been registered against him at Burari police station.
The fake certificate was made by scanning some old certificate and then getting it photocopied by keeping paper pieces in selected spots, police said.
The investigation so far, has revealed that Yadav had bought the car, in which the crime took place, after taking a loan from a Lajpat Nagar-based finance company.
The company provided a car loan on the basis that he had an All India Tourist Permit so that he can pay back the loan by plying his car.
