Condemning the killing of an additional vice-president of a private company in Dhenkanal, Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) today said concrete steps are required to deal with such offenders with an iron hand and ensure law and order in the industrial belt.
"The shocking news of the brutal attack on Shivanarayan Mishra, Additional Vice President of M L Rungta Ferro Alloys Company, culminating in his death, has shaken the industrial fraternity," UCCI President Ramesh Mohapatra said in a statement issued here.
Industry associations like UCCI, CII, FICCI and others have also condemned the heinous crime, he said.
A delegation from UCCI and CII met the Chief Secretary yesterday and submitted a letter relating to safety and security of the management and other supervisors/workers of industries in the state, Mohapatra said.
"This is not the lone case. Such dastardly actions have already taken place in other parts of the state," the UCCI president said.
The delegation also met Home Secretary, who assured them of the strongest possible action and informed the delegates that two persons have already been arrested in the case, a UCCI release said.
UCCI proposes to hold a combined meeting of industry associations and invite the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DG Police and Industry Secretary to deliberate upon such incidents to find ways to deal with these matters legally.
