Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil today asked Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to join the Sangharsh Yatra, launched by Opposition parties, demanding a loan waiver for farmers.
"If Shiv Sena is supporting farmers and demanding loan waiver, it should step down from the government and join the Yatra. Farmers are committing suicide and the state government is not bothered to alleviate their suffering," Vikhe-Patil, who was addressing the Yatra at Matoshree lawns, said.
"The BJP government at the Centre and in the state are making April Fool of people by making false promises and deceiving them," Vikhe-Patil, also the leader of opposition in the Assembly, said.
Vikhe-Patil said "19 MLAs of Congress and NCP were suspended from the Assembly for demanding loan waiver for farmers. Even if all our MLAs are be suspended for this demand, we are ready to face it."
NCP leader Ajit Pawar said the BJP government is least bothered about farmers.
Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi, former minister Rajesh Tope, NCP leader Jitendra Awhad, Congress leader Nasim Khan, were among those present.
