Ukd CM expresses concern over quality of education in govt

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat today expressed concern over the quality of education in state government schools and said that 60 per cent of children were forced to study in private schools.
Asking the teachers of the state government schools to raise their standard of teaching, Rawat said a large number of children in these schools will prevent their closure which will be good for the teachers as well.
"The declining number of students in the government schools is obviously due to the poor quality of education provided by these schools. It is strange as state-run schools have more capable and better paid teachers," the chief minister said at a programme here.

Efforts were underway to set up a think-tank consisting of 10-12 capable teachers who will give suggestions to the state government on how to raise the standards of teaching in the government schools, he said.
