Acting on a specific information, a joint team of police and CRPF's Black Cobra forces launched an operation at Namsai area last night and the encounter took place early this morning.
A militant was killed on the spot and combing operations were on in search of other militants in the area.
The slain militant has been identified as Rabin Moran alias Habindra Moran.
