"We came to know that some ULFA cadres were moving in Aithon area in Goalpara district bordering Meghalaya. Our team went there and an encounter took place in which one militant was killed," IGP (Central Western Range) LR Bishnoi said.
Two to three other militants were likely to be injured, but they managed to escape, he said.
Two pistols, three cell phones, two pairs of shoes and a purse containing Rs 9,500 cash was seized from them, he said.
"We laid traps at seven places around Guwahati after receiving information... And during midnight we spotted a vehicle and on searching it we found arms and then arrested the three travelling in it," Bishnoi said.
Three AK-81 rifles, nine magazines and three US-made bottle grenades were seized from them, he said, adding that the arms were being taken to Goalpara district.
