UN chief, others extend best wishes to Modi-led govt:Javadekar

A host of world leaders, including UN chief Ban Ki-moon, have extended best wishes to Narendra Modi-led NDA government and hoped for better ties and meaningful partnerships with India, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said today.
Javadekar, who attended the first UN Environment Assembly from June 26-27 here, said that apart from the UN chief, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and a host of other dignitaries also extended their best wishes to Modi.
"@UN Gen. Sec. Ban Ki-moon, Kenyan President @UKenyatta & many World leaders extended their best wishes to Shri @narendramodi led Govt," Javadekar tweeted before leaving for India today.
"World leaders hv praised accomplishments of @narendramodi led Govt. Watching India wt hope for better ties & more meaningful Partnerships," he added.
Javadekar said that during the conference he had met dignitaries and representatives of more than 50 countries.
"World is very excited abt decisive verdict given by Indian voters to Sh. @narendramodi led Govt,in the world's largest Democratic Elections," he wrote.
"After putting India's viewpoint effectively & interacting wt 50+ Countries, returning India tonight from Nairobi post 1st @UN Env Assembly," he added.
Javadekar also took the opportunity to visit the Nairobi National Park and said that best practises in management of national parks and wildlife can be mutually shared.
"Today visited Nairobi National Park. Many best practices mutually can be shared in the management of Wildlife & National parks," he said.
During the UN Environment meet, Javadekar had termed as "stark" the wide gap in per capita incomes of developed and developing nations and urged the progressed nations to pledge "additional and predictable" funding to developing nations for eradication of poverty.
He had said that efforts to put global economy on a sustainable path "must not" be on the backs of the poor and asked developed countries to take a lead in committing to technology transfer for developing nations to achieve sustainable growth.
