UN slams 'widespread and systematic use of excessive force' in
AFP Geneva The UN decried today "widespread and systematic use of excessive force" against demonstrators in Venezuela, saying security forces were responsible for at least 46 protester deaths.
"Interviews conducted remotely by a UN human rights team paint a picture of widespread and systematic use of excessive force and arbitrary detentions against demonstrators in Venezuela," the UN rights office said in a statement, presenting preliminary findings from an investigation conducted in June and July.
