Unauthorised structures on MMRDA land sealed in Thane

The Thane district administration today sealed 75 unauthorised residential structures that had come up on land belonging to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority in Kasheli and Kalher areas here.
Collector Mahendra Kalyankar, who supervised the action, said that the process of registering criminal offences against the builders who had constructed these sturcures without requisite permissions was underway with the Bhiwandi police.
Some of the structures had been built after destroying mangroves, officials said, adding that none of the structures that were sealed today were occupied.
Sub-Divisional Officer Santosh Thite said the buildings which were under construction would be razed while those which had been completed would be seized by the revenue department.
