An undertrial allegedly tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrists in jail, police said today.
Undertrial identified as Satnam Singh Satta, facing the charge of abducting a minor girl, was taken to civil hospital after another undertrial raised an alarm yesterday, they said.
A case under IPC Section 309 (attempted suicide) was registered against Satnam by the police, they added.
Investigating Officer Harjit Singh said Satnam was sent to judicial custody by the local court on May 19 in connection with the abduction case.
Police said further investigation is underway.
