Undertrial attempts suicide in Punjab jail

An undertrial allegedly attempted suicide by hanging himself with the grill of the bathroom in the central jail here today, police said.
Bhagat Sewak Singh, a resident of Kot Karam Chand village, has been lodged in the jail in connection with kidnapping of a minor girl at Dharamkot Bagga village on March 1.
After being found by jail authorities, he was admitted to Civil Hospital here and later shifted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar.
A case in this connection has been registered in city police station here.
