Undertrial prisoner escapes from van

An undertrial prisoner of Nalbari Jail escaped by cutting the window net of the prisoners van in which he was being brought back here from court, police officials said today.
Dipjyoti Kalita, charged with murdering a teenaged boy in August last year, escaped when he was returning to Nalbari Jail in a van from the Rangia Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate Court yesterday, they said.
A search operation has been launched to arrest the escapee, they said.
