The awards, organised by the University, were presented to Dr Banumathy, Zoology Professor (retd.) of Kerala Varma College, Thrissur, Malayalam film actress of yesteryears, K P A C Lalitha and Sister Innocent, a social worker in Wayanad district, a release by the PRO of the University said.
Lalitha's son Siddharth Bharathan received the award in the absence of the actress.
Earlier, the function which was to be held at the Conference hall in the University complex at 10-30 am was rescheduled to 2-30 p m at the University Syndicate meeting room adjacent to the Vice-Chancellor's office as it was disrupted by protest by a section of the students affiliated to SFI for an hour, according to some University sources who do not want to be named.
The first edition of the awards function last year was also marred by similar protests, they said.
