As many as 40 migrant workers from Odisha, who were allegedly not paid their salary for the last 45 days, have sought the district Collector's intervention in the matter, police said today.
The workers of a steel factory came to the Collectorate to submit a petition stating that both the factory owner and the contractor were indulging in a blame-game over the pending salary, they said.
The workers said the owner claims their salary money was handed over to the contractor, who said he had received only Rs 25 lakh of the total Rs 37 lakh and would be able to pay only after receiving the balance, the police said.
The workers said they were paid only 15 days' salary in May and not received the salary for June. Hence, they sought the intervention of the district administration, the police added.
