Immediately after the Question Hour, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ram Bilas Sharma proposed that the House should pass a resolution thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing much-awaited OROP for ex-servicemen.
Though opposition party INLD supported the resolution, members of Congress party objected to the same, saying it should not be passed until detailed modalities pertaining to OROP were announced.
Former Speaker and senior Congress leader Kuldeep Sharma said the UPA government had announced to implement the OROP and Rs 500 crore was also earmarked for the same.
"Therefore, there is no need for passing any resolution by the House in this regard," Sharma said.
However, Sharma made some objectionable remarks against the BJP in the House, triggering sharp exchanges between treasury benches and Congress MLAs.
Not taking the remarks against the party lightly, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the word used by the Congress MLA was not acceptable.
"BJP is a respected party and it is ruling in the state and at the Centre. The word which you (Kuldeep) used will not be taken lightly. Nobody has the right to distort the noun of any word," said CM who usually remains calm in the assembly.
Vij said it was the BJP which conceived Delhi Metro project.
