"The unscientific humps across Karnataka, especially Bangalore-Mysore Road will be removed," he said replying to BJP's Suresh Kumar in the state Assembly.
Mahadevappa said there are 9,000 road humps in Karnataka, of which only 2,113 are scientific.
The government has so far removed 5,000 unscientific road humps, he said.
Deputy Commissioners and Traffic Superintendent of Police of all districts have been asked to identify unscientific road humps for removal, he said.
Mahadevappa said the government has also directed authorities concerned to paint all the road humps and put up signboards indicating humps ahead. Strict action will be taken with regard to illegal cutting and digging of the roads.
Although the purpose of having road humps was to avoid accidents by checking vehicle speed, the opposite was happening, Kumar said.
