UoH VC elected as Prez of Assn of Microbiologists of India

University of Hyderabad (UoH) announced today that its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Appa Rao Podile has been unanimously elected as the President of the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI).
AMI is one of the oldest and reputed scientific organisations of India established in 1938, and it has contributed significantly towards development of both research and teaching of microbiology in India, UoH said in a statement.
The Association also publishes a high standard journal "Indian Journal of Microbiology" in collaboration with Springer. It currently has over 4000 life members and about 400 corporate members.
Professor Podile has been the council member of the AMI for the past six years and is known for his significant contributions to plant-microbe interactions, the statement said.
He is a fellow of the three National Science Academies in India and is currently a Tata Innovation Fellow with consultancy projects in agricultural microbiology, it added.
