Talking tough, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today warned IAS officers of strict action if they did not dispose of pending files within a week.
"I have been told that files are kept pending for months...Take one week time and improve..After that stricter action will be initiated against those who have more number of pending files", he said.
"You (officers) say clerk has not put up the right report (on files)..You are big officer, if you have to do what clerks say, then which type of IAS officer you are?" Yadav said while addressing UP Udyami Sammelan organised by Indian Industries Association (IIA) here.
The state government is working expeditiously and providing all support on establishment of institutes and projects of the Centre, he said, adding free land was timely provided for establishment of AIIMS at Rae Bareli.
Yadav said the state government was taking concrete steps to promote investment and industries in Uttar Pradesh and assured all possible help to entrepreneurs.
He said that in association with the Centre, Agra summit was organised successfully in which prominent industrialists participated and added that such a large number of industrialists never came on one platform in UP earlier.
Industry representatives of various countries, including the US, have expressed willingness to invest in UP from which it was clear have faith in the healthy atmosphere created by the state government, he said.
The CM said that good works have been done in some states, but in some others claims of good atmosphere was being made through media, which was "wrong".
The government has made several policies which would help in setting up of new industries, but top priority was being given to promote existing industries, he said.
"UP has made significant progress in several sectors and is ahead as compared to other states in wheat, dairy and cane production", he added.
