"In pursuance with the orders of the chief minister, Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar has directed the district magistrates to observe the 'Ganga Swachhta Sankalp Diwas' on May 2 at 8 am. Efforts should be made to make this a grand event," a state government spokesperson said today.
The chief secretary has asked the district magistrates to ensure that they participate in the pledge-taking event at one of the places.
Earlier today, Adityanath, while addressing party workes in Gorakhpur, had said that the state government will hold special cleanliness programmes at 785 villages located on the banks of Ganga on May 2.
