Criticising the much-touted Gujarat model of development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said the SP government has launched more welfare programmes in the state than Narendra Modi's government.
Addressing a gathering in favour of SP candidate Lal Singh Tomar here, Yadav said, "SP government in Uttar Pradesh distributed laptops to students, provided monetary assistance to girl students and provided unemployment benefits to youths."
"Can Gujarat government tell people about any welfare programme like that?" Yadav asked.
He also said that the SP government has launched many welfare programmes for Muslims to bring them to mainstream.
