UP DGP gets three months extension

Senior IPS officer Arvind Kumar Jain was today given three months extension "in public interest" as Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP).
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the proposal for extension of service to Jain, a 1979 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, for a period of three months beyond his superannuation in public interest, an official order said. Jain was to retire today.
He had taken over as the chief of Uttar Pradesh police on January 31 this year.
