In pursuance with the instructions of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, a new NRI department has been created in the state and its responsibility has been given to Principal Secretary, Infrastructure and Industrial Development, Sanjeev Saran, a spokesman said here today.
The newly formed department will work towards effectively solving the problems of people from the state living abroad, besides encouraging investments from them, he said.
Work is going on as per a strategy to increase contact with the NRIs belonging to the state and make them partners in its progress, the spokesman said, adding that earlier a special cell was set up for solving the problems of NRIs.
