UP govt to re-conduct state board exams after copying

UP government will re-conduct the ongoing high school and intermediate examinations of the Uttar Pradesh Madhymik Shiksha Board, owing to reports of massive copying.
The reexamination will take place at centres where similarity in language and hand writing was found in answer books during evaluation, an official statement issued here said today.
UP chief secretary Alok Ranjan who took part in review meeting of secondary education department gave his assent to proposal for re-conducting examinations at centres where examinees are found to getting more than 90 per cent marks and answer books have a similarity in language and hand writing, it said.
A proposal to this effect was made by Jitendra Kumar, principal secretary of the department.
Till yesterday, 2,015 students including 698 girls have been caught copying in the examinations.
During the meeting, Ranjan issued strict directives to improve the standard of education in government schools besides making arrangements for repair of school buildings and furniture.
The chief secretary also asked for giving a momentum to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's 'clean school-green school' drive and completing the selection process of teachers for over 100 model schools which will be run on CBSE pattern from the coming academic year, the statement added.
