The Uttar Pradesh government will release over 100 inmates from various jails of the state to mark the birth centenary of Hindutva icon Deendayal Upadhyaya tomorrow.
Out of the 100 inmates, as many as 80 had completed their quantum of punishment, but could not deposit the monetary fine and thus were still in jail, a spokesperson of the home department said today.
These inmates include 12 from Lucknow, 11 from Varanasi and 10 from Faizabad district jails, he said.
Apart from them, 20 inmates serving life imprisonment will also be released, the spokesperson added.
