Tension prevailed on the Uttar Pradesh-Haryana border following a dispute between farmers of the two states over an agricultural land after UP police released it from the possession of Haryana farmers.
Three farmers of Haryana were arrested in this connection, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Suresh Mishra told reporters today.
Acting on a complaint of UP farmers that Haryana farmers had encroached their land, a team of revenue officials was sent to Mawi village in Shamli district yesterday and they released the land, he said.
The issue erupted when some farmers from Haryana started farming on the encroached land in Mawi village. The situation was brought under control after police intervened.
Six districts of western UP- Shamli, Saharanpur, Baghpat, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bullandshahar and Aligarh witness frequent clashes between farmers of the two states over boundary dispute.
