UP Panchayat polls: Two injured in clash

Two persons were injured in a clash between supporters of gram pradhan election candidates at Adampur village in the district, police said today.
Shahpur Police said that the violence broke out last evening when supporters of two candidates for the post of gram pradhan, Shakil and Zarif, confronted each other after the polling.
The supporters began pelting stones and opened fire at each other, in which two youths identified as Shamshad and Israr, suffered bullet wounds, they said.
The two were shifted to a district hospital later, they said.
On receiving information about the incident, the police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, police said, adding, security has been beefed up in village.
