A team of Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police is likely to visit Mumbai in connection with arrest of three criminals linked to the gang of Chotta Rajan, who is being brought to India from Indonesia after arrest.
"A team of STF is likely to visit Mumbai after Diwali," IG STF Sujit Pandey told reporters here today.
Asked about Chotta Rajan gang's connection with UP, he said its several members had been arrested in 1990s.
"All the members are listed and we keep on monitoring their activities from time to time. The gang had old connection with UP," he said.
Three criminals having links with Chotta Rajan gang were arrested by the STF from Allahabad on November 1.
Indresh Kumar Singh, Mohd Saleem alias Shekhu and Ramesh Kumar Bind were arrested from George Town area and fire-arms along with a jeep and motorcycle were recovered from them, according to police.
Police had said that on interrogation, the arrested criminals claimed that they worked for Azad Ansari alias Ejaz, who is currently serving life term in Naini jail in a murder case. Ejaz was an active member of Chotta Rajan gang, police said.
Pandey said the arrested criminals have revealed some important information. "Ejaz had been in Mumbai for a long time since the age of 13 years," he said.
Rajan was arrested in Bali in Indonesia a few days back and is being brought to India.
