Union Minister and senior BJP leader Uma Bharti today parried questions on her prospects of becoming a contender for the Chief ministerial post in Uttar Pradesh but expressed confidence of her party forming the government in the state, which is going to polls next year.
"I can't comment about the claim on the chief minister's post but the BJP is surely going to form a government there," Bharti said when asked about reports of being the claimant for the top post in UP.
The Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation was talking to journalists after offering prayers at Ganesha temple at Sehore, about 55-kilometers from here.
In reply of another query about Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan's 'Narmada Sewa Yatra,' Bharti said that this campaign would save the future of this river.
"Mining has been the biggest impediment in the conservation of Narmada. A mining ban on the banks of Narmada would naturally conserve and save this river," she added.
Bharti said she would extend all possible help to the state government in the campaign to conserve Narmada river.
"Narmada has been cleanest river of the country. After Chouhan's efforts, the river would continue to be free of pollution. Plantation on both sides of the river would further beautify it," she added.
