The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended the director of the Economics and Statistics Department with immediate effect for alleged irregularities in transfer of officials, a government spokesperson said today.
"Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directives for suspension of Ashok Kumar Pawar, the director of the Economics and Statistics Department with immediate effect for irregularities in transfer of department officials," the spokesperson said in a statement.
A CD had come to the notice of the state government which purportedly showed that Pawar was demanding money for cancellation of a transfer, the spokesperson said.
"Taking strong cognizance of this, the chief minister has issued the suspension directives," he said.
