Quoting a survey by 'Dataquest', Chatterjee said the state witnessed a 19 per cent increase in employment opportunity in the IT sector alone.
"It will go up further with the completion soon of 13 IT hubs and three hardware parks in the state," he said.
Among other places, the 13 IT hubs would come up at Asansol, Durgapur, Barjora, Kalyani, Rajarhat, Siliguri, Kharagpur, Malda, Haldia and Behala.
Chatterjee asked Shapoorji and Pallonji to immediately complete its IT hub on 50 acre at Rajarhat Newtown.
He also said the state's nodal agency WBIDC has distributed plots covering 188 acres among 10 investors for setting up plants, which he hoped would materialise soon.
