The United Democratic Party (UDP), a key Opposition party in Meghalaya, today said it will increase the upper age limit for entry into government jobs for SC/ST candidates, if voted to power in the February 27 Assembly elections.
The upper age limit will be hiked to 32 years from the existing 27 years with another five years relaxation period, the party said in its 12-page manifesto released today.
The manifesto said the party, which had eight MLAs in the current House, will provide free education for children below the poverty line (BPL) and introduce minimum support price for farmers.
It also promised setting up of a single-window agency to clear permissions for mining of limestone in the state.
Lashing out at the Congress, the UDP leader told PTI that the term of the present government will leave behind a legacy of a bleak political and economic future.
