The NDMC Mayor adjourned the BJP-led House following the chaos which lasted for about half an hour.
The ruckus began when Congress councillor and Leader of the Opposition Mukesh Goyal in his short notice raised the case involving BJP ward councillor in the Rohini Zone Shobha Vijender and accused her of "illegally encroaching upon a community hall" in her ward.
Congress councillors, following a heated exchange with ruling party councillors, trooped into the well of the House and raised anti-BJP slogans.
BJP councillors, mostly women, countered it with anti-Congress slogans and even took a dig at them saying, "after the broom's sweep in Assembly polls, they (Congress councillors) were behaving like AAP MLAs".
Shobha, wife of former Delhi BJP Chief Vijender Gupta, accused Aam Aaadmi Party Rohini MLA Rajesh Garg of misbehaving with her.
"Hundreds of AAP party workers along with Garg surrounded me in Rohini and intimidated me on the community hall issue. The hall is a public property but they in the name of 'aam aadmi' are trying to misuse their position...I have already told about this to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and he has said that he will look into the matter," she said.
Goyal later brought to the attention of Mayor Azad Singh the garbage disposal issue in Civil Lines Zone, saying, "You (Mayor) thought of one woman but not of the lakhs of people of Delhi who are suffering because of piling garbage."
The Leader of the Opposition alleged that garbage had not been picked up in the Civil Lines Zone for the last one week "and life has become hellish for people due to it."
