DCF president Mool Chand Shukla passed the order sentencing Managing Director of UPSIDC to one month jail term and slapping a fine of Rs 2,000 on him on Tuesday.

On April 30, the district consumer forum had asked the UPSIDC officials to settle the issue within 15 days or face arrest after the Supreme Court dismissed UPSIDC's petition challenging the consumer court's order to return the plot to the industrialist.

The complainant had approached the district consumer forum after the industry body cancelled the allotment of a 600-sqm plot in September 1999 for non-construction.

The District Consumer Forum in December 2002 directed the UPSIDC to allot the plot to industrialist in same area. UPSIDC then moved the State Commission and National commissions which upheld the district forum order in 2007 and 2011 respectively.

The National commission also directed the UPSIDC to allot plot to industrialist.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that UPSIDC officers have contacted the industrialist and offered alternate plots for allotment.
