Besides, some exports enquiries supported the up move.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April rose by Rs 42, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 6,436 per quintal with an open interest of 11,700 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in May gained Rs 30, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 6,512 per quintal in 7,390 lots.
Marketmen said, fresh positions created by participants due to upsurge in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly led to the rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.
