Urad, grams rise on upsurge in demand

Prices of urad and gram rose up to Rs 250 per quintal in wholesale pulses market today on pick up in demand from retailers and stockists against tight supplies from producing belts.
Marketmen said besides rising demand from retailers and stockists, tight supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up urad and gram prices.
Depreciating rupee against the dollar that made the imports costlier also influenced the sentiment, they said.
In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka local traded Rs 250 each higher at Rs 8,000-8,400 and Rs 8,900-9,100 per quintal respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya were enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 9,100-9,700 and Rs 9,500-9,800 per quintal respectively.

Gram climbed to Rs 4,700-5,400 from previous level of Rs 4,550-5,400 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,000-5,200 and Rs 5,100-5,400 per quintal respectively.
Besign Shaktibhog and Rajdhani quoted higher at Rs 2,200 each instead of Rs 2,100 per 35 kg bag respectively.
