Vaishanavite scholar passes away
Press Trust of India Jorhat (Assam) Vaishnavite scholar and the Founder Principal of Assam Satra Mahasabha Jagannath Mahanta died of heart attack today at AIIMS in the National Capital.
According to a senior official of Mahasabha, Mahanta was in New Delhi for some work when he had a heart attack this morning.
The 76-year scholar was admitted to a nursing home but later shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
Mahanta, who was the 'Satradhikar' of 'Jaji Jayabari Satra', left behind his wife, two sons and a daughter.
He was also the Head of Assamese Department in Jaji Hemnath Sharma College.
