The ashes of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away on August 16, were today immersed in the Swarnrekha river at Namkum in Ranchi.
Thousands of people from different walks of life, including religious, cultural and social, paid tributes during the immersion of ashes.
BJPs state unit General Secretary Dipak Prakash said Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Sudarshan Bhagat, partys Organising Secretary Dharampal Singh, Jharkhand Urban Development Minister C P Singh were among several leaders in the procession that traversed 11 km from party office to the river banks.
The urn containing ashes were brought from Delhi yesterday and were distributed in five other urns to enable immersion in five rivers of the state.
