Varsity, Corporate office, Airport awarded green certificates

A private university in Jaipur, Chandigarh Airport and a corporate campus in Hyderabad are among the projects which have been awarded green certification by TERI for practicing policies for sustainable development and improving quality of human life.
Seven projects were felicitated, including three 5-star ratings, two 4-star ratings and two 3-star ratings, by Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA), a tool developed by TERI to ensure energy efficient building construction.
Projects which were given 5-star ratings were Manipal University in Jaipur, Infosys Pocharam, SDB 4 & 5, Hyderabad and Institute of Public Enterprise, Shamirpet, Hyderabad.
Chandigarh Airport and AJC Bose Road Residential Project, ITC, Kolkata, were recognised as 4-star rated projects. Ansal Esencia, Gurgaon and Ganga Cypress, Pune, were recognised as being 3-star rated, a TERI statement said.

IIT Gandhinagar and IIT Ropar were felicitated as GRIHA LD (Large Developments) rated projects, it added.
The Council recognised projects from diverse fields of building and construction for their compliance with GRIHA and the nomination categories were health and safety, site management, energy, materials and water management.

The projects included IIT Hyderabad and High Court of Goa. "As India's own green building rating system, GRIHA is committed to contribute India's Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) goals and shall ensure that sustainability as a concept touches all strata of our society and reaches all homes and habitats in the country," Mili Majumdar, Secretary cum Treasurer, GRIHA Council said while speaking about the success of 7th GRIHA Summit.

"Green buildings play an important role here and TERI has been the vanguard of this movement with GRIHA being adopted as the country's own rating system by the government," newly appointed TERI Governing Council Chairman Ashok Chawla said during the award function.
The two-day Summit hosted eminent speakers comprising representatives from the government, architecture, construction and education sectors.
