District Judge N R Pradhan took a serious view of the father sexually assaulting his daughter. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
The man was tried for offences punishable under sections 376 (punishment for rape) of IPC and also under provisions of the POCSO Act, 2012.
He sold scrap, while the victim did petty jobs after her mother married another man and shifted to Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh.
Younger brother of the victim stayed with her in Anand Nagar slum colony of Vasai.
The victim, who was under extreme fear, narrated the incidents to a neighbour who took her to a NGO and the matter was referred to Vasai Police.
