A clerk in the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation was arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe for a issuing a marriage certificate, a Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau official said Saturday.
Ghanshyam Gusekar (34) demanded Rs 1200 from a person for issuing a marriage certificate, following which the latter approached the Palghar unit of the ACB, deputy superintendent KS Hegaje said.
"A trap was laid on Friday in the VVCMC ward office and Gusekar was held while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant. He has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act," the Dy SP said.
