DMDK chief Vijayakanth today sought deployment of Central forces to avert untoward incidents and hailed the verdict convicting Jayalalithaa as one that has proved that every one is equal before law.
"As members of the ruling party themselves are allegedly engaging in incidents of violence, Central forces should be deployed to uphold law and order," Vijayakanth said in a statement here.
Stating that the verdict proved equality before law, he said "law is supreme whatever high position one may hold."
Condemning violence allegedly indulged in by supporters and workers of the ruling AIADMK, he said it was condemnable.
"The verdict will be a lesson for those who commit wrongs," he added.
