VHP praises move to detain separatists

VHP today welcomed the move to detain separatist leaders ahead of their proposed meeting with Pakistan NSA Sartaz Aziz and said talks with Pakistan should be cancelled forthwith as they will not yield any result.
VHP also accused Pakistan of waging a "direct war" on India and said it does not want to talk to democratically- elected representatives and instead chose to talk to such people who are in a minority and never elected.
"Pakistan claims to be a democracy, but wants to talk to those who have neither been elected and are in a minority in certain pockets of Kashmir Valley. We welcome government's move to detain separatist Kashmiri leaders ahead of their meeting with Pakistan NSA. It is an unprecedented decision as government did not succumb under pressure.

"The NSA-level talks between Indian and Pakistan should not be held as Pakistan is involved in direct war with India. War and talks cannot go together and as such the talks held in such a situation will not yield any positive results," VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain told PTI.
He said had the talks been cancelled earlier by India, such a situation would not have arisen.
Lauding government's move in preventing Hurriyat leaders from meeting Pakistan NSA, Jain said India have shown the separatists their "real place" and the Hindu outfit is happy over the government action.
The Indo-Pak NSA-level talks continued to remain in limbo with neither side willing to blink first on a day of sharp public exchanges with India making it clear that the talks would not take place if Pakistan insists on discussing Kashmir and ropes in separatists.
