"Now, the party which Rahul Gandhi leads has to support homosexuality," Vijaywargiya, who won the recent assembly polls in the state from Mhow seat told reporters in response to a query on the issue.
When asked to clarify his statement, Vijaywargiya said, "It is a matter of understanding. Such things cannot be specified in an explicit manner."
Terming the BJP MLA's remarks as highly "objectionable", State Congress spokesman, Narendra Saluja said, "Vijaywargiya's tripe remarks have exposed his party's mindset. Before making any statement on homosexuality, he should remember former MP Finance Minister Raghavji's alleged sodomy case involving his domestic help."
The leader had said that these are matters of personal freedom and he would agree more with the Delhi High Court verdict, which de-criminalised gay sex.
