Vijesh Kumar Garg takes over as Deputy Director General, NCC

Commodore Vijesh Kumar Garg has taken over as Deputy Director General of NCC Directorate Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Garg replaces Commodore K S Aiyappa who attained superannuation today, an official release said.
Prior to taking up the new role, Garg was serving as the Station Commander (Navy) New Delhi Area. He also served as the Commanding Officer for four years at New Delhi.
A former NCC Cadet and alumni of IIT Roorkee, Garg was commissioned in the Indian Navy in January 1984 in the Executive Branch.
In 2013, for his distinguished service, Garg was awarded the Vishist Seva Medal by President Pranab Mukherjee, it said.
Garg is a Naval aviator and an anti-submarine warfare specialist. He was sent to United Kingdom in 1988 for training and acquisition of new Sea King 42B helicopters, the release said.
