Village official arrested accepting bribe from villager

A village official from Khalapur in neighbouring Raigad district who allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe from a villager was arrested today, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said this evening.
Superintendent of Police (ACB) Sandeep Karnik told PTI today that a village official of Satgaon in Khalapur Rajesh Namdeo Sable, allegedly demanded Rs 15,000 from the complainant for entering his name in the land records.
The aggrieved complainant lodged a complaint with the Raigadh unit of the ACB, which nabbed the official while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000, the ACB said.
An offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the official at the Khalapur police station, the ACB said.
