As soon as Rajaiah arrived, a group of villagers started pelting stones at him and also at the police vehicles present on the spot, a personnel at Jaffergadh police station said.
The villagers said they were opposed to the merger of Jaffergadh mandal into Jangoan and alleged that the leader did not support their interest.
Police later lathi-charged and the brought situation under control, the officer said.
