Villagers in Agra protest after girl's body found in fields

Tension gripped Sakatpur village here as people gheraoed a police outpost after a naked body of a missing girl was found in a field.
The 17-year-old girl had gone missing on the night of March 17 after she had gone to fields to attend nature's call.
The girl's family in a complaint suspected a boy, of the same village, to be behind her disappearance. The protesters alleged that police let the boy go after detaining him briefly.
The girl's naked body was found about 100 meters from her house yesterday morning. It is suspected that she was raped, police said.

The incident outraged the villagers who gheraoed the police outpost and did not let the police to take the decomposed body for medical examination.
They could be placated only after SP (Rural West) and the circle officer reached the spot and assured them of an urgent action against the culprits and the negligent policemen.
The body has been sent for a post mortem to confirm rape, police said.
