IFS officer Vinay Mohan Kwatra was today appointed as Joint Secretary in Prime Minister's Office.
Kwatra, a 1988 batch Indian Foreign Service officer(IFS), was in October appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the PMO.
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved empanelment of Kwatra to hold the posts of Joint Secretary or equivalent at the Centre.
The ACC has also approved appointment of Kwatra as Joint Secretary in the PMO for the balance period of his three-year central deputation tenure i.E. October 23, 2018, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.
Kwatra was in October directed by the ACC to report in PMO with immediate effect in order to familiarise himself with the work before Jawed Ashraf, a senior IFS officer who was working as Joint Secretary, relinquishes charge.
The ACC had then also asked Cabinet Secretary to assess the suitability of Kwatra to hold JS-level post in Government of India expeditiously.
