Singh's move comes a day after the Himachal Pradesh cabinet met the Prime Minister and pleaded for a special financial package for the state.
Singh, who returned here this evening said, he had requested Chidambaram to provide Rs 500 crore for strengthening infrastructure network and declare the Chandigarh-Baddi new railway line as a project of national importance due to its strategic importance.
Survey of this new railway line, which would facilitate movement of goods and services from the state's industrial areas, had been completed and the state government was willing to provide all necessary support and infrastructure for it, he said.
He also requested the Union minister to start work on Bhanupalli-Bilaspur railway line as per an earlier decision taken in the Prime Minister's office in which it was agreed to fund the project in the ratio of 75:25 between Railways and the state government.
Singh pleaded for uniform funding on the pattern of North-Eastern Special Category States in the ratio of 90:10 between the Centre and the state government for all the centrally sponsored schemes.
Singh said, investment in the neighbouring states had not been adversely affected due to incentives to industries coming up in Himachal and added that though the government received investment proposals to the tune of about Rs 48,000 crore, it actually got about Rs 14,000 crore.
