Rahul Bajaj of Noida was in third place with a score of three-under 67.
Local-lad Vishal Singh, a winner on the PGTI, mixed seven birdies with three bogeys in the opening round to take the early advantage.
Vishal said, "I hit my irons well. I capitalised on the par-5 holes with birdies on three of the four par-5s. However, I missed some crucial chip-putts today. One of my best birdies in round one came on the 17th where I made an up and down from the bunker."
Bikramjit said, "I was solid through the day. I missed a hole-in-one by a whisker on the 16th where the ball was just two rolls short of the cup. I've not had a good season so far so it's important for me to do well here. A good performance this week will give me the much-needed confidence."
Rahul, a winner on the Feeder Tour, was one stroke off the lead in third place. His round included four birdies and a bogey.
